So Young
gave 60 for a fistula repair surgery |
posted January 10, 2012

Lwogose is 29 years old and resides in Namukesu village, Iganga district, Uganda. She got pregnant at the age 23 and was unable to reach the health centre in time due to lack of money for transportation. By the time she got to the health centre, she had been in labor for a long time, was very weak and the delivery was unfortunately a still birth, which also resulted in a fistula.
Lwogose explained that when she awoke, she realized she was leaking urine and the birth attendant told her there was nothing they could do for her, this was devastating. This year she met a friend who told her of the fistula camp that UVP holds and she contacted our fistula coordinator who told her about our November camp.
Lwogose is glad and very appreciative to Uganda Village Project and So Young for giving her a new life. She is also grateful for the care and the support given to her while at the November fistula camp and now knows there is surgery that can repair fistulas and is telling others in her village. Thank you So Young!
