Dear Janet,

Tikabula Namusoko lives in Nawandala, a village in the Iganga District of Uganda. She became pregnant with her first child as a young girl of15 years. She went through labor at home for three days before her husband realized that she was losing a lot of blood and that the baby was not going to come out. She was taken to the hospital and delivered a stillborn child. To add to the devastation of the circumstances, she realized she was leaking of urine because she had sustained a child birth injury called fistula.

For many years, she endured the shame and discomfort of her fistula because she did not know where to access treatment. One day, Tikabula was visited by the fistula coordinator at Uganda Village Project, who to told her about fistula surgery. Through your support of the Uganda Village Project, Janet, Tikabula was able to attend the Uganda Village Project camp and receive fistula surgery.

At 61 years, Tikabula has been cured of fistula! When interviewed, she said: “from the day I left the hospital as a 15 year old girl leaking urine, I prayed that one day there will be a cure for this and I never gave up hope. Today, God has answered my prayers through Uganda Village Project”.

Thank you, Janet!
