Philip helps his siblings stay healthy

malaria SYI story
Makumbi Philip and his three siblings are all pupils of Kazigo Primary School in Kazigo village, one of the areas where Uganda Village Project works. Uganda Village Project has taught community volunteers – called Village Health Teams – to share with their village about ways to stay healthy. The children attended a malaria educational outreach organized by the Village Health Team members.

After the outreach, they asked their father to buy them a mosquito net so that they prevent mosquito bites, and ultimately, reduce their risk of malaria. Their father agreed, and Philip says that now his sister and two little brothers get enough sleep at night because mosquitoes no long bite them, and they are staying healthier. Just as important, Philip has noticed that they are able to go school every day unlike before when malaria often made them sick. “I thank the donors of Uganda Village Project for providing subsided nets to our community,” said Philip. We’re grateful to Philip, too, for being such a wonderful older brother!
