Jamiya is healthy again and can care for her kids!
posted March 20, 2013

Jamiya is a mother of five and lives in Kagabo A, a village in the Mayuge District of Uganda. When she became pregnant with her fifth child, Jamiya received antenatal care at a private clinic but could not arrive at the clinic when labor pains began. Her husband simply didn’t have the money to transport her there quickly.
After enduring 28 hours of painful, obstructed labor, she was eventually taken to the nearest government hospital where she received a Caesarian section — luckily, her baby survived. However, while recuperating in the hospital, Jamiya realized that she was leaking urine because hours of obstructed labor had created a fistula.
Thanks to your support of Uganda Village Project, Leo, Jamiya received a successful fistula surgery at Kamuli Mission Hospital in March 2013. When we interviewed her after the surgery, Jamila said she was grateful to God, to her husband for coming with her for the surgery, and to UVP for giving her back her life. Thank you for your kindess!

Jenifer, age 44, lives with her five children in Buwaiswa, a village in Iganga, Uganda. When she heard that Uganda Village Project supplies long lasting, insecticide-treated mosquito nets at a subsidized price as well as malaria education services to her village, she immediately approached a member of the village health team to inquire about purchasing nets.
She bought four more nets and says now all her children sleep under a net provided by Uganda Village Project. “I thank God for the help that Uganda Village Project has brought me and my children, we no longer get sick of malaria like before,” said Jenifer.

Fulfilling their plan
posted February 13, 2013

Thank you for supporting the Uganda Village Project. Your contribution provides family planning services to a woman like Nabirye:
I am Nabirye and I live in Kidaago A village in Iganga District. I am a mother to two children. When we had just gotten married, my husband and I agreed and planned to have four children, as we wanted to have a family we could afford to look after. We also wanted to offer our children the best education because we never got a chance to go to school ourselves. In order to fulfill this plan, we agreed to use family planning methods and especially the injection. I started attending the family planning outreaches conducted by Uganda Village Project (UVP).
Through your support of UVP’s program, Mary, they will help this couple prevent unwanted pregnancies and have their family of four children.

Family Planning for Kidaago B Women
posted February 1, 2013

Kidaago B is one of the Uganda Village Project’s healthy villages located in the Iganga District of Uganda. Because this village is far away from the road, accessing health services like family planning is very difficult. Women have to walk very long distances to access these services or do not receive them at all.
Uganda Village Project was able to come to the village and conduct family planning outreach services because of your donation, Akiko. The women of the village were so excited and grateful that on the day of the outreach, we found them already lined up in excitement.
Thank you, Akiko, for supporting the Uganda Village Project so they could help this rural community. Poverty and isolation often lead to preventable problems going untreated. Thanks to your donation towards this program, we are able to extend both short term and long term family planning services to these women .

Committed to an HIV/AIDS-free life and marriage
posted February 1, 2013

“I am planning to get married in August this year and we have tested for HIV as a couple once since our relationship started. Today, I have come alone for testing because she is out of the village. I will share my results with her and have her tested again so that we are able to have an HIV/AIDS free life and marriage.”
Thank you, Kandace, for supporting Uganda Village Project and an entire village in Iganga, Uganda. Ngobi and his community can live worry free of these sometimes lethal infections and diseases. Not only are the tested community members educated and reassured, but those that tested positive receive treatment so preventable diseases like Syphilis cannot take over their lives. Thank you again, Kandace for helping so many to have healthier and happier lives.

Family planning for Namunkensu women
posted January 31, 2013

Namunkensu is a village located in the Iganga District of Uganda and one of the healthy villages that was launched in 2012 by the Uganda Village Project. Though there is a health center located in the village, it did not provide family planning services full-time because of a shortage of contraceptives. As a result, there was an unmet need for those who are interested in these services. Yet no longer! Due to your support, Lee and Hardeep, the Uganda Village Project has been able to add these services at the health center. Thank you for giving these women something that will positively affect every corner of their lives.

Aisha is finally healthy again
posted January 30, 2013

Aisha is 37 years and lives in Idudi, a small town in the Iganga District of Uganda. 10 years ago, Aisha gave birth to her third child and thought that everything would happen smoothly, just like with her first two children. Unfortunately, she was in labor for a very long time and did not get to the health center in enough time because she and her husband did not have sufficient money to travel there quickly.
Aisha eventually managed to arrive and the doctor operated on her to save her child. Due to the lengthy childbirth, she developed obstetric fistula and she has had it ever since. Recently, thanks to your support through Uganda Village Project, Aisha was repaired — she is looking forward to going home to her children and husband.
Thank you, Akiko, for your support of Aisha and Uganda Village Project!

Family planning services finally accessible
posted January 30, 2013

Thank you so much for providing family planning services to five women in Uganda. Your support of the Uganda Village Project will help women like Kambudyu, who wanted to thank you personally for your generosity
I am Kambudyu. I am 23 years old and I live in Kidaago B, a village in the Iganga District of Uganda. Due to complications with my second birth, the midwife counseled me to use contraceptives to avoid getting pregnant for at least another year. She also informed me about family planning outreach done by Uganda Village Project as the health center is three hours away so it would be difficult for me to walk there to get my method of choice. My husband and I choose to use the injection, which we receive every three months from the nurse who comes to our village.
Because of your support, Marysol, Uganda Village Project will continue to provide family planning services to Kambudyu’s village and she will be able to adhere to the midwife’s advice.

When she heard that Uganda Village Project offered family planning services in her village of Buwolomera, Uganda, she immediately approached them. She had wanted to get a depo injection for at least two years but she didn’t have the economic resources nor the access to do so.
Jennifer’s husband is a farmer and makes $2 per week to provide for their large family. Because of your support of the Uganda Village Project, Amit, Jennifer was finally able to take control of her reproductive life. “I thank God for the help that Uganda Village Project has brought me,” she said with a big smile. Thank you!

Kazigo A Village is a village located in the Iganga District of Uganda. It is one of the healthy villages that was launched in 2012 by the Uganda Village Project.
