gave 60 for a fistula repair surgery |
posted April 4, 2012

At the tender age of 16, Susan Kako got pregnant. Susan is a high school student in Iganga district in Eastern Uganda. Throughout her pregnancy, Susan had no complications. When she went into labor, her family was unable to get her to the clinic in time and she was in labor for over a day. On the second day, Susan was taken to the health center, but unfortunately delivered a still born baby and at the same time developed a fistula. Susan was devastated. Susan heard about the Fistula camp through some of her mother’s friends in the neighboring village and she immediately contacted Uganda Village Project’s Fistuala Coordinator to find out more. We assisted Susan in attending the camp . Susan’s surgery went well and she is happy to be cured and feels that she has been given a second lease on life. “I would like to help women with fistulas. I will talk to women about it and let them know that there is a cure through surgery and maybe be one day I will be able to do the surgery.”she said with a big smile.
Susan Kako is glad and very appreciative to Uganda Village Project and Jin for giving her a second lease on life. She is also grateful for the care and support given to her while at the camp and is eager to help and tell other women of her ordeal and that there is surgery for the condition. Thank you Jin Z!!
